The EMA – Exponential Moving Average
The EMA is one of the most common indicators used by traders. This EMA indicator reduces the lag of traditional moving averages by applying more weight to recent prices. The EMA indicator is better then the SMA ( Simple Moving Average ) indicator, because if reacts faster and does not over shoot as much .
The most common way of using EMA is by applying it to a large time frame in order to tell the direction of the market. Basically when the price crosses above the EMA the trend is Bullish and when the price crosses under the EMA the trend is bearish.

The Daily EMA indicator plots the EMA from a Daily chart on any chart you like, this is achieved by the advanced Multi Time Frame Technology created by our TradeStation experts. The indicator uses MultiTimeFrame technology to simulate daily bars from any chart ( ticks, minutes, range etc. )
VHC 30 Minute Chart:
Reading the Colors: Purple color indicates that Daily EMA is going down. Yellow color indicates that the daily EMA is going up. Notice that while the price is below the daily EMA the market is mostly Bearish and when the price is above the EMA the market is mostly Bullish.
EMN 30 Minute Chart:
Notice that while the price is above the daily EMA the market is moving up in a bullish trend!
KMX 60 Minute Chart:
Notice that while the price is below the daily EMA the market is moving down in a bearish trend. When the price finally crosses above the EMA we have a clear shift in the trend, we see that an up trend has begun.
