Tradestation Update – Enhanced Alert Messaging via Email

Posted by Gil Zehnbacht on

Maintaining constant awareness of market events that can affect your analysis and trading is critical to success in today’s trading environment.  The ability to receive your Indicator or Strategy alerts almost anywhere you happen to be is just one way to help you stay on top of the markets.

Tradestation has improved their alerts functionality by making it easier to customize various parameters regarding your email requirements.  Email and text messages can be sent to your personal email inbox or handheld devices using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TSL) – These are forms of encryption.

The new configuration parameters allow you to integrate with the most popular email providers like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and more.  By enhancing the configurability of the user interface, you can now customize the alert messaging for seamless integration with your email provider.

Access the alert configuration menu by selecting “View” from the main TradeStation menu and choosing Message Center.  Then click on “Notification Preferences,” check the Email setting and click on “Configure…”

In the Messaging dialog you would enter the destination and source email addresses, as well as the authentication information for your email provider, such as encryption type and communication port.  You can get this information in the most case by googling “SMTP server for Gmail/Yahoo [etc]”.

You can send alerts to your handheld device or mobile phone via text message (SMS) by utilizing your phone email address.  Each provider has an email address reference for your phone number: yournumber@yourprovider.xxx
