Predictive Ichimoku Kinko Hyo
What is The Enhanced Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Indicator?
Many programming hours and many trading hours (of our expert trading team) have gone into fine-tuning our Ichimoku indictor and making it the best of its kind. Our indicator contains all three components of the Ichimoku―the moving average lines, the clouds, and the delayed line (Chikou)―and much much more.
If you are reading this, you probably know that to trade the Ichimoku you need the right indicator, and you have just found it.
Our experts have also developed a special Ichimoku radar screen that helps you trade just like the real Ichimoku masters. You can scan hundreds, even thousands, of stocks in one glace and cherry-pick the ones you like. Our radar screen provides you with all the real-time information you need in a fast and easy-to-view manner, giving you the edge you need.
Background of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo
Ichimoku, also known as the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, is a highly versatile indicator that defines support and resistance levels, sideways-moving markets, and trend directions; it even provides trading signals. The phrase “Ichimoki Kinko Hyo” translates to “one-look equilibrium chart,” which means that with one quick glance at a chart with the Ichimoku indicator, a trader can identify the direction of a trend and find potential signals.
Goichi Hosada is the man behind this indicator; he was a journalist who published this amazing indicator in 1969. The Ichimoku indicator has gained popularity over time; it has become so well known that large institutions such as governments, banks, and hedge funds use it to make informed decisions about market direction, mostly on a weekly or daily time frame.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo Clouds (Senkou Span A and B)
The Ichimoku clouds consist of two lines: the Senkou Span A and the Senkou Span B. The Senkou Span A is the faster moving line and is plotted in green, while the Senkou Span B is plotted in yellow. Up moving clouds are plotted in green and down moving clouds are plotted in yellow.
Ichimoku clouds provide you with locations of support and resistance and sideways markets and even project on the chart future price action (extended to the right of the price action).
AIG Daily Chart: You can see how the Ichimoku clouds clearly show the trend direction. When the Senkou A (green) is above the Senkou B (yellow), the cloud is colored green to indicate a bullish trend. When the Senkou A (green) is below the Senkou B (yellow), the cloud is colored yellow to indicate a bearish trend.
Tenkan, Kijun and Chikou
The second part of the Ichimoku indicator contains its moving averages and the delayed Chikou line – the Tenkan-Sen, also known as the turning line (fast average); the Kijun-Sen, also known as the standard line (slow average); and the Chikou Span, also known as the lagging or delayed line.
These moving averages (Tenkan and Kijun) act like an MACD crossover signals indicator. When the Tenkan (turning) crosses over the Kijun (standard) line, this indicates a bullish signal. When the Tenkan (turning) crosses under the Kijun (standard) line, this indicates a bearish signal.
The Chikou Span is also an important feature of the Ichimoku. It represents the current price moved back in time. This is extremely helpful because it clearly shows the direction and strength of a trend; when the Chikou Span is above in prices, this indicates a bullish trend.
CAT Daily Chart:
- Purple: Chikou Span – Lagging/delayed close price line.
- Blue: Tenkan (Turning). the fast average.
- Red: Kijun (Standard). the slow average.
Putting it all together
Now, let’s examine how to put all of this to good use.
CAT Daily Chart: A beautiful example of a long signal, you can see how the price bounces off the cloud, the Tenkan (turning) crosses over the Kijun (standard) line above the cloud, and the Chikou Span is above the price. Traditionally, Ichimoku has been used on high time frames such as daily or weekly, but lately more and more professional traders have successfully used it on lower time frames, such as 240 minutes, 60 minutes, and even 15 minutes.
